Nova Southeastern Award for Outstanding Practice by a Graduate Student in Instructional Design |
What?! Well, yes it is usually an honor being nominated for something but I nominated myself so is it really an honor? No.
What is an honor, a huge and unexpected honor, is winning.
For my internship I worked with Dr. Romero-Hall to design and develop the "Principles of Learner Motivation" course at UT. I worked wicked hard on that course and I am unreasonably proud of it. Happily several wonderful things have resulted from that internship, things that go above and beyond what I expected to get from an internship. One of which is this award.
About the whole self-nomination thing ... it was tons-a-lot of work! Had I realized how much work it was going to be to reproduce the materials from the course, not to mention (but I will anyway) the cost of shipping them to the reviewers, I would not have nominated myself. Luckily, I had no idea.
In the interest of full disclosure, I must mention that the review committee chose two winners this year, myself and Hengtao Tang for his project titled, "MOOC – Technology Applications in Education."
Congratulaton Hengtao and thank you Dr. Simonson and Nova Southeastern University!
